Well it seems as though someone has somehow managed to hack into my Livejournal account (are you really that bored, whoever you are?) and has read my locked entries, or found my picture with Skylar at Erin and Craig's wedding posted somewhere else either by him, my sister, or any of 10 other people who has it and has shown it to me to prove they really did hack when they didn't and freak me out about it. Either way, I'm not entirely sure what this person's motive is, only that it seems silly to me that someone would waste their time and energy to read priveleged thoughts about my insignificant life. If anybody really wanted to know about my life, they just could have asked me instead of secretly read my 5 years' worth of boring entries and then revealing themselves in an anonymous response. Oh well, people are weird.

Well, it has been another relaxing weekend for me. Weekends have been rather relaxed since starting the job at the clinic. They are only open 8-1 on Saturdays and are closed Sundays. Compared to my old schedule at the pet stores, this is heaven. This weekend was my weekend off, so I woke up at a casual 9:30 Saturday morning, waved Skylar goodbye as he left for school (extra-curricular activities + studying and homework). I then got up, took a nice long shower, and headed out to run some errands, made a couple of phone calls, stopped by the clinic for some Harrison's organic bird food (which Sage has grown quite fond of) and found myself stealing my parents' food and taking it to my sister at work and having lunch with her. We caught up on the drama (or lack thereof) of our lives and enjoyed my Mom's fine cooking. After saying goodbye, I headed back and got caught up on a few things at home, then met back up with Skylar for dinner (which turned out to be a terrible experience...so terrible that it needs a new paragraph).
We stopped by Taco Cabana hoping for a quick and easy dinner. We made a rather bad decision with this particular location. We walked in to find that there were a couple of other groups scattered throughout the tables. We made our order to a girl who first ignored us and then looked over as if she had just noticed someone was there, asking, "Wha? What did you want?" We made our order again, paid, and waited....for twenty minutes. After seeing that the couple after us had not only gotten their dinner but were already walking out the door, Skylar got up and asked about our order. It seems no one was aware of this order. Ten minutes later, we're handed a tray of food that is nothing close to what we ordered. Frustrated and hungry, we decided to just let it go and eat the food. Except that it was completely inedible. The beans and rice tasted as if they were made a week ago and left out to rot. What was supposed to be chicken enchiladas on my plate was soggy crunchy taco shells wrapped around stale cheese and onions. Disgusted, I put my plate back on the tray and told Skylar, "Get your money back." When we asked for it, they gave us little trouble, telling us quite nonchalantly how we were not the first people that day to walk out and demand their money back. We will never go back to this place again. And for those of you who know me, I can be very forgiving about a lot of things, but there is absolutely nothing forgiving about the complete lack of service given to us that night. I am still appalled as I type this. This was bad, even for fast food.
Anyway, we then headed over to Luke's (Skylar's friend) and had some of his leftover barbecue, watching some TV and talking about the strange dreams we've been having lately. It was a weird conversation. We went to bed late that night and then today has been spent playing Warcraft (I'm almost level 53! Go me!) and my new game on my wonderful little Wii.
And I know that once I get into a university, relaxed weekends like this will cease to exist. So I am totally enjoying it all while it lasts. ^_^ And to conclude this particularly rare, long post, more kitty pictures! We have finally given them all names.
Not all of them came out clearly, as taking pictures of moving kittens is rather hard to do, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
The dark grey one, which will be adopted by Anne, has been name Blue.

According to the techs at the clinic, brown kitties are a rare color. This little rarity is named Alastir.

We named the grey and white one Kirby, only to discover later that he's a she. >_< Oops.

Kirby again.

Light grey one here likes to climb on walls and knock stuff over, so she has been named Tempest.

Little priss here with the fancy French tips has been named Kira.

A close up of Alastir.

That is all for kitten pictures today, but it doesn't end there. ^_^
This is Hydro, the clinic kitty. He is named thus due to the hydrotherapy he endured as a result of getting run over by a car. (A nice man picked him up, not wanting him to die but unable to afford his care, so he had been adopted by the clinic. He's lived there for over 3 years now.)

And last but not least, my own kitty Rasputin. (I've discovered just how hard it is to take a picture of a black kitty, haha.) The best shots of Rasputin so far. Today the camera totally loved him. ^_^

We were able to pull them out again later, so here are three more for your viewing enjoyment! ^_^
This kitty has a French pedicure.

And this one wouldn't stay still long enough for me a get a clear enough shot. >_<

And lastly, if any of you can remember how tiny my hands are (six inches in length exactly), you can see just how small these kitties are.

Kitten number five was nursing off of Mama, so we must wait before the next modeling shoot.

Yeah, so the only thing that is getting me online to post on my journal these days is the new litter of kittens Skylar found in his backyard. He's caught them along with the mother and is keeping them together in a large kennel until they're old enough to eat on their own. I attempted to take a few pictures, but only one came out clearly. We've been playng with them all morning so we're giving them a break right now. Eventually I'll get back to them and take more pictures. There are five in all and this is the light brown one.

Well, a few days ago I sent in a resume to a couple of vet clinics around North Austin who posted on craigslist. Yesterday, I got a phone call from one of them, asking me to come in today for an interview. Well, much to my suprise, it was the clinic right next door to the store. Haha, who knew. Anyway, seeing as I have chosen to move on, I decided not to let that bother me. I went in, nervous as hell, and left an hour later...with a new job! I start in a little over a week, after Michelle's wedding. The people seem nice there and it looks like I have much to learn. But that's ok, I get a pay raise, and they even have medical benefits. Much more than I can say for...other employers. Anyway, this is an exciting new time and I hope things continue to look up again. Yay for new jobs!

Well, it's been too long like usual. But I have been preoccupied with a very long string of bad luck recently. My recovery from my knee is going as well it as it could. The bosses seem reluctant to pay for my medical bills, even if they are required to by law. My work at the store has been shot down again and again because I am expected to be able to read my boss's mind, as well as my manager, who both say two different things. They expect a flawless job in a temporary position that they placed me in based on improper training and flawed logic as well as miscommunication and their inability to understand basic math. Then they decide that I'm not doing enough work to justify my hours, so my hours are reduced to 30. Oh, don't worry. I can still pay my bills. I'll just have to stop eating. That's all. Then I come down with a bladder infection. Lost ten hours that week as well. And when the doctor says that I am well enough to go back to my real position in the bird department and the rent has gone up $80 a month, I politely ask for my old position back as well as my full hours. And what do they do? They fire me, based on one slight indiscretion I had when I used the internet for a few minutes three weeks ago. No warnings, no reprimands, no second chances. Fair? I guess you can be the judge of that. But that is all for now. I may post something in more detail later. But considering my bitterness in the whole situation, who knows.

I originally had this in my last post but decided to separate them since they were both so unrelated.
I am finally posting pictures of when I went to the zoo with Jeff and Tessa last Thursday. It just took me a long time to organize them. Originally, I was going to post them in chronological order, but it was actually more difficult than simply posting in alphabetical order. Also, I only posted ones that were clear or decent enough to look at. Not all of them came out well, sadly enough. And considering how much I have typed today, I will only post links that tell you what the picture is of instead of leaving comments like I usually do (unless I really feel like it). I am lazy. Oh, and some are unknown so there will either be a question mark or it will be called "mystery-something."

Yay, more pictures! I've decided that I wanted to show the photos from the Japanese garden last because it was my favorite place and not just because it was Japanese.
So now, here are miscellaneous pictures of different sections of the garden, including the bird garden, the herb garden, and the maze garden.
A small courtyard area with a pretty fountain. The view of the walkway as we were leaving the Climatron. Very misty. I liked the shape of this tree. Another courtyard area. This one was right before the herb garden. Turn down that pathway to the right and you'll find yourself sniffing chocolate, orange, and ginger mint plants. A grasshopper hanging out on the leaves of some common sage. Another grasshopper, this one near the chocolate mint. They were just called hot peppers. Growing along one of the walkways as we made our way to the Japanese garden. From further back, with Anne also taking a picture. I just really like the green of the leaves. So vibrant. Does anyone else think of Harry Potter too? Who needs a map when you can just have a really tall friend to peek over the hedges? A sea of purple somethings. I love it when everything is dripping with water. So pretty. More pretty, wet flowers. Jumping water! Yet another nice courtyard. With Anne there, you can see just how large some of these areas are. Birds galore. Such a rich red color. Texas sage. A hippo that needs a tissue. More pretty red flowers. Perfect for the hummingbirds. Purple stars. Again, I love the color. So many nice shades. This one looks so graceful. Ducks! The biggest gourds I have ever seen. They came in so many different shapes. I'm holding one here to show how big they were. Round ones. More raindrops. I like how the sun reflects off this one. Sad ducks...no splashing water for them. Anne hanging out under the gourds. An artichoke blossom. Raindrops are pretty.
And here are the random pictures that Anne took.
The same rich red flower at a different angle. And another angle. More red flowers, yay! Look, that's me. This is like the first one I'm posting that I'm actually in. ^_^ A look at wet flowers from Anne's point of view.
And now, for the Japanese garden. Of course, I'm suddenly afraid I've hyped it up so much that everyone will be disappointed. -_-;
My new favorite tree, the Japanese maple. The view as we first entered the garden. A fruit tree. Neither of us recognized what kind of fruit it was. -_- A view of the pond. A view of a waterfall taken from the same spot. I liked the tree. It looks kinda lonely. ;_; Another cool tree. I just couldn't get over how pretty that pond was. Lily pads! More pretty raindrops. The Japanese maple leaves up-close. My first time to see an actual zen garden. It might have been just me, but looking at it really made me feel more peaceful. Anyone else thinking Fruits Basket too? ^_^ Just like ripples in water. Ducks! (Real ones, this time.) These koi were all at least 3 feet long. O_O Very hungry 3-foot-long koi. They had a koi food dispenser so you could feed them. My, what a big mouth you have. o_O And who says you can't pet a fish? A sick birdie we saw on the side of the walkway. *sadness* Anne on a small pier overlooking the pond. Another scenic shot. A pebble beach. I took a lot of scenic shots. There were just so many cute little streams everwhere. The same one from the other side. Still haven't gotten around to translating the symbols, so don't ask. -_- If anybody knows what this mysterious fruit is called, please tell me. I love bonsai. A cute little Japanese maple.
And here are some nice shots that Anne took in the Japanese garden.
I'm not sure why, but I just really like this one. Raindrops on Japanese maple, what more do you need? A scenic shot from Anne. ^_^ And another. And, of course, another! ^_^ I guess we both liked those lily pads. Now it's my turn to pet the fish! Too bad it turned out blurry. I actually look ok in this one. -_- More duckies.
And that concludes our tour of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Maybe next time we can visit the bulb garden, the temperate house, the dwarf conifer collection, the Victorian garden, the Chinese garden, the German garden, and the iris garden. ^_^
And once I get the pics from the zoo and the aquarium I'll update again.

Well, I had every intention to post more pictures today but I did not expect to get home so late. Craig just got this new game demo and we were quite intrigued with the horsie. So pretty. We could make the guy stand on it while riding. Very cool. Anyway, I've got a busy weekend coming up, so no pictures until probably Monday. ;_; Sorry, I tend to forget my plans until last minute. -_-
Edit: In other news, Jeff called me earlier today and told me he's coming back to Austin, for good. He'll be here by Monday. Happiness!

I'm gonna give less details than I usually do about my trip to Chicago so I can move on to the pretty stuff. Pictures. My flight left very early, but it was nice to have the entire row to myself. The short layover in Memphis was just as smooth. And I must say that Memphis has got to be the dullest airport I have ever seen. I found taupe and beige along with other monochromatic colors to be more revolting than soothing. The most wonderful thing about Chicago is its 65-70 degree summers. The first day Anne and I just hung around and caught up and we eventually went out to find a small Japanese mall to do some shopping. Getting lost, we ended up at the dealership cuz Anne's car was making a funny noise. They sent us shopping for the rest of the day while they fixed it. (I bought a new outfit, which you will see me wear in a few of the photos.) The next day, Tuesday, we went out looking for the Japanese mall again. We found where it was supposed to be, but there was no mall. Just houses. >_< Then we went looking for a Target, got lost again, went back to her apartment, printed out different instructions, and finally found it. It was the one street we never went down. Who puts three streets intersecting at once in the first place anyway??? And really, what's up with the complete lack of frontage roads? We then went to see Red Eye (mostly to stare at Cillian Murphy ^_^) and discovered that Tuesday nights were the best to go see a movie. Only five bucks per ticket and free parking. Wednesday, we went to the zoo (penguins!) and then drove five hours to St. Louis where Mark lives. It was the first time I'd ever seen or heard of quadraplexes. Very interesting. Thursday, while Mark went to work, we went to the Missouri Botanical Garden. It was beautiful. And HUGE. We had to go again the next day (I just HAD to see the Japanese garden). I wouldn't be surprised if it had its own zip code. Then on Friday, after visiting the garden again, we went back to Chicago, with Mark this time. Saturday, Anne and I went to Shedd Aquarium (Jeff vehemently insisted upon it when he happened to call me) and then went to see Brothers Grimm with Mark that evening. The next morning, without a wink of sleep, I sadly headed back to Austin. ;_;
Now the fun part...pictures.
Originally, I planned on uploading the pictures I took that I wanted to show (I wouldn't actually force all 600+ on you >_O). But it took me sooooo long to just upload the pictures from the garden that it gives me a headache just looking at the upload page. So I'm just gonna show these for now. I'll get to uploading the others eventually. There are...a lot from the garden. Just like when I visited the botanical garden in Austin with Anne and Mark, I took mostly plants along with a few animals here and there.
Being as I have a new computer and a brother too busy and/or lazy to install the software on my computer needed to properly edit the pictures, I went ahead and uploaded them as they were. Usually, I resize them so they don't take up so much space on the page. But since I didn't, I'm going to leave descriptions of the pictures as links. Less scrolling on your part, right?
I decided to upload pictures from the garden first because they were the biggest batch. I think the zoo will be next. I'll link as many as I feel like tonight and then continue later. I'm sorry if some may look the same, but I had to upload all the ones I liked cuz I'm crazy like that. Hope you enjoy them anyway. ^_^
First, the ponds. Plate lilies. Lily blossom. Another. They came in so many colors. One of my personal faves because I like how the water pooled in the center like that. It started raining a little and I wanted to get the drops on the leaves. Butterflies! I really liked the color of this one. Anne, posing in front of one of the many ponds. A closer shot of her. My attempt to get the raindrops as they hit the water. Blossoms again! See the dragonfly landing on the sign? Totally unintentional, I just noticed it when I was uploading this picture. A very strange but cool-looking blossom. Another butterfly. Pretty blossom. (I took so many! -_-) A closer shot of the sculptures above the largest pond. These plate lilies were at least 4 feet in diameter. This one and the others after (of the pond) were taken by Anne. She had a smaller, fancier-looking digital camera. ^_^ White blossoms. More plate lilies. These things can grow up to three inches a day. O_O Yet another blossom in a different color. A blossom just popping out of the water. A view from the rose garden. Regular lily pads. I actually saw a frog hopping on them later on. Peppers right next to the pond. I was tempted to pick one, they looked so good! How many blossoms did we take pictures of?
The Climatron. A huge biodome that houses the tropical plants. We spent way too much time in it, but we did end up staying there longer because it started to rain pretty hard. I should have taken a picture of it from the outside...hmm...oh well, it's prettier inside anyway. ^_^
Angel-wing begonias. Chinese lanterns. They actually grow upside-down like that. Don't remember the name, but a pretty flower nonetheless. I like how there's just a splash of yellow on the blossom. The first of many orchids that I saw, though not all the pictures came out clear. Orchids, the most beautiful parasites you'll ever see. A fuzzy fact from Peach: Ten percent of all plant species in the world are orchids. Don't know what this is, but doesn't it look cool? Spider lilies. I think. Bromeliad. I love how orchids come in so many different varieties. A nice view of one of the walkways. The foliage is just so full and thick. Yay orchids! This one was bigger than an open palm. I really like the shade of yellow in this flower. Anne's so silly. A cute bird hanging out underneath the cacao trees. The sign says it all. A little pink clam. A fuzzy fact from Peach: Bromeliads are known to hold up to a gallon of water during the dry season, usually housing small frogs and insects as well. Bananas! I wonder if they sell them after they ripen. I think this is a bromeliad blossom. I've always seen these white. This one was just so pink. Or is it fuchsia? Anne posing in front of a waterfall. A fuzzy fact from Peach: The source of the poison from poison dart frogs is unknown, though scientists believe that it may mostly be from the insects they ingest and anything they may absorb through their skin. But they can't be positive because it is impossible to observe the life of one in the wild. And because these were raised in captivity, they aren't actually poisonous. Hey Brennon. Is this your Blue Death Frog? Or maybe it's this one? And this day gecko looked straight at the camera. ^_^ So cute! I love puffer fish! Another pretty, nameless flower. (Jeff, I bet you know. ^_^) A personal favorite of mine, the carnivorous plants. A hybrid pitcher plant. Mmmm, slowly digested insect juice. I wish I could remember the name of this one, it looks so cool. They look like tiny grapes. Too many to remember! Another personal favorite. Japanese lantern. Elephant ears! The cutest chicks ever! I wonder if it's edible. Another pretty flower. Spider plant. I thought it was devil's tongue at first. They look so similar. -_- Maiden's hair. Don't know. -_-
And I think that will be all for today. I still have the Japanese garden to show you. Among other things, of course. ^_^
